How to Choose a Leather Dog Collar

1. Start With Your Dog's Neck Measurement
The most important measurement is the circumference of your dog's neck where the collar normally sits. Breed, weight, and age can provide general context, but they cannot tell you the exact neck size of an individual dog.
Measure the actual dog and compare that number with the collar's stated adjustable fit range.

- Small: 3/4" wide
- Medium: 1" wide
- Large: 1.25" wide

The width difference is particularly useful when a dog's measurement falls close to the overlap between Medium and Large. In that situation, consider both the adjustment range and whether a 1-inch or 1.25-inch collar is better proportioned for the dog's neck.

Buffalo leather is a natural material, so variations in grain and texture are normal. Genuine leather does not have to look perfectly uniform from one piece to another.
